meta keyword seo

“Shouldn’t we be using meta keywords in seo?” Back in old days of SEO ranking, we use  meta keywords were where it was at. You just shoved in every meta keyword you could ever imagine wanting to rank for, and then you sat back while the SEO magic happened. we now days you have hears meta keywords are long dead in google ranking.  In fact, using them can actually hurt your seo Still, it’s a common question asked now a days :”Why You Shouldn’t Use Meta Keywords for Search Engine Ranking”.

What Exactly Are Meta Keywords?

The meta keywords element dates back to 1995. The Meta keywords which is know as meta tag you can use in the HTML code of your web site. In other words you can use this Meta keywords  to provide the search engines( like google and others )with more information regarding what your web page is about.  The search engines would try to read the meta keywords in the tag and say, “Oh, that’s what you  are trying to rank for. Okay, let’s move this web site to the top! of google search result”

You could add a meta tag on a page, indicating that page’s main keywords. It looked something like this:

<meta name="keywords" content="seo, search engine optimisation, search engine optimization, search engine ranking">

And it did work in old days , back in the old days when the search engines googles weren’t as wise to the games people play to rank in search engine. The  main problem was that it was just too easy to spam the website through keyword stuffing, the practice of jamming every relevant, semi-relevant, and irrelevant, and far from content matching keyword you can think of in order to try to bring more traffic to your web site.

It’s not much of a secret idea as to why the search engines try to stopped paying attention to add meta keywords to website for google search in ranking factor.this was one of the many efforts to combat web spam and clean up the search results in google search.  By using the meta keyword anyone and everyone could rank in google search result for something just by shoving it into a meta keyword tag, it became pretty obvious that there was a problem occurs. The search results would be flooded by sites that just weren’t that relevant to the query or what they are looking for.

In 2009,Google took first action. the search engine officially announced that it does not use the meta keywords tag which does not use the as a ranking factor in search result. Could Google have changed their mind since then 2009? Well, probably not happen. It wouldn’t make any sense for Google search result, in its endless war against  to battle web spam content and provide better search results for the user, to start allowing this again in the ranking factor.

As far as Google search result is concerned, you can use the meta keywords tag all you want in the web pages. It doesn’t hurt anything in the ranking factor badly. They don’t even look at it . Yahoo search engine is the same way. But Bing isn’t meta keywords tag quite so nice about it. Bing actually does look at the meta tag, but they don’t use it as a ranking factor as well. No, Bing uses it only as a penalty factor in search result. If you’re  trying to spamming your meta keywords tag with words that don’t appear in your body of the content, then your Bing rankings will suffer. More on that in a matter for days.

There are plenty of SEO professionals who still believe in the meta keywords tag are still ranking factore in search results, and they aren’t all hacks or spammers . Plenty of SEO companies continue to plug keywords into the  meta tag . A very respectable marketing tool even published a blog post last year 2017 saying you should use them for better ranking. Their reasoning for ranking? Because a lot of SEO professionals still do it.

Its Wrong answer. No matter how many people still use meta keywords tag, there is no value to putting the tag on your web pages for ranking. In October of 2014, Bing’s Duane Forrester (Author of two business books about digital marketing and conversion optimization )shared his own views about the  worthlessness use of the meta keywords tag and how much trouble caused for search engines and SEOs alike. .

Yes, Google allways says they don’t use meta keywords tag. Yes, Yahoo says the same words they don’t use it. Yes, Bing also says it can’t help and can only hurt your ranking . But let’s be realistic the point here: the search engines are never honest with us I think Isn’t there a small chance that the meta keywords can still help us for better ranking?

No. There is no right evidence whatsoever that meta keywords help your rankings in search result. At best, entering meta keywords tags on every page of your website is a waste of time and effort you are doing . And that’s the best case scenario i know . Do you have a lot of time to waste on tactics that don’t work in any form of ranking?

There’s much more than just time at stake here. I’ve already shows the potential penalty are waiting for you when you spam by using meta keywords . Meta keywords also make things easier for your competition When you are fill up that meta keywords tag they can easier to target what keyword are using to gain traffic in the search result. , . “Hey, here’s a list of all the keywords I’m targeting with my website. Please, come take these words and use them for your own benefit and rank better than me !” Many website owners aren’t aware of these method how easy it is to “steal” a page’s meta tags and rank your competition website . Right click, view source, find, copy. That’s all it takes to steal your traffic.

But wait! If my competitors are trying to steal my meta tags which am useing in my website to rank, then I will send them on a wild goose chase by placing tons of fake keywords in there. Then they’ll try to optimize their site for the wrong stuff. I’ll be on top forever!

Great plan. (Please see above regarding potential penalties for spamming the meta keywords tag.)

If you still really want to use the meta keywords tag in spite of all conventional wisdom, then you must  take this advice before using it : use it sparingly. That means you need to make sure you only place the right keywords within the tag. Make one mistake, and you might find your site suffering and spam your site in search result.
